Prevent post-partum depression (PPD)

Last week I wrote about DHA and the importance of breastfeeding. Now there are few studies on the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids for postpartum depression (PPD) was. Postpartum depression affects 10-15% of women after childbirth, and is defined as a depressive episode that begins within one month after delivery. PPD is often because of the rapid changes in hormone levels that the experiences that the mother after birth. Levels of estrogen and progesterone, whichwas the top during pregnancy, a sudden drop back to normal after the baby is born. But with proper nutrition during and after pregnancy can be side effects, such as post-partum depression is avoided.

A study of Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, January 2006, vol 113, no1, pp 1-5, says that omega-3 fatty acids (G-3 FAS) for further investigation as a treatment for the support PPD. The results show that O-3 FAS is beneficial and well tolerated in women with PPD. Or the two active FAS-3, which are commonly found infish oil are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), both of which help the brain grow and function.

DHA has demonstrated a positive impact on long-optimal neurological development of the fetus in utero and in infants, among other benefits for pregnancy and the mother permanent. The drugs used to treat post-partum depression is related to neonatal toxicity. I remember that everything you put in your mouth for you and your child, even after birth through breastmilk. So antidepressants and other medications could have been avoided, it would be better for the child and mother. I recommend Nordic Naturals Omega 3, leaving a balance of all including EPA and DHA are omega.
